A dashboard can display a precise recommendation while relying on incomplete records. The visual confidence of the output does not establish the suitability of the underlying data.

Describe the decision support task

Specify what the system is intended to analyse and who reviews the result. Agronomic decisions require appropriate local expertise; a generic model should not be presented as a substitute.

Scikit-learn’s missing-value guidance describes techniques for incomplete model inputs. Those techniques do not convert an estimated value into a measured field observation.

An illustrative record system could distinguish a sensor reading from a value carried forward after a device stopped reporting.

Make input quality inspectable

Show relevant timestamps, units and data status. A recent dashboard refresh is not evidence that the underlying observation is recent.

Evaluate the conditions relevant to the proposed deployment. Results from one crop, location or measurement setup should not be generalised without suitable evidence.

Where information is insufficient, the system should identify the gap and route the question to the appropriate process rather than manufacture certainty.

Review the operating consequence

Ask whether the tool improves the quality and timeliness of information available to qualified decision-makers. Measure corrections, missing data and user understanding as well as prediction error.

Avoid publishing claimed yield or financial improvements without a defensible comparison and supporting records.

Keep an input-quality report with the analytical output. It should identify missing observations and material changes in collection conditions without overwhelming the intended reviewer. This allows a qualified local adviser to judge whether the result has an adequate basis rather than assume a polished recommendation reflects complete farm information.

GAT’s AI pilot guide emphasises evidence tied to a real workflow. For agricultural applications, that starts with a truthful account of what the system knows about the field and what remains to be established locally.
