Early-stage teams often answer diligence requests through scattered emails. As more reviewers join, the same questions return and answers begin to diverge.
Organise the pack around decisions
Group evidence by product scope, operating responsibilities, security, implementation and support. Identify the owner and review date for each document.
GitHub’s release guidance ties versions to explanatory records. Supplier evidence benefits from the same discipline: the buyer should know which product version or service arrangement a document describes.
An illustrative deployment guide should distinguish standard functionality from the prospect’s proposed configuration. Reusing a previous customer’s private diagram without permission is not an appropriate shortcut.
Preserve limits and expiry
A certificate, test report and policy statement establish different things. Describe their scope accurately and verify that dated evidence remains relevant.
Give reviewers a clear route for questions the pack does not answer. A large folder that hides missing information can increase review time rather than reduce it.
Control access according to sensitivity. Public explanations may be suitable for general product facts, while detailed architecture or customer records require a more restricted route.
Maintain one accountable answer
When an authorised answer changes, update the source record and notify teams using it. Avoid leaving a corrected response in one salesperson’s inbox while others continue circulating the old version.
Provide an evidence index that names the question answered by each document and its review owner. This makes the pack easier to inspect without turning it into an unrestricted file dump. The buyer should be able to identify both an available answer and the person responsible for a material gap.
GAT’s enterprise security-review guide covers a key part of this work. The broader benefit is consistency: a startup can be candid about its maturity while giving each evaluator a dependable account of what exists and what remains to be resolved.
